Administrator sign-in uses session cookies. Readership tracking stores a randomly generated identifier under news_visitor in local storage to recognize a browser for visitor counting. A custom popup advertisement, when configured, uses session storage to remember that it has appeared during the tab session. Local storage can remain until cleared; session storage normally ends with the tab session. Administrator sessions follow the website’s authentication expiry.
